My Story…

Hi there, my name is Gaynor.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

I can’t say that my fascination with cake decorating & baking had its origins in a romantic story of how I learned to bake at my Mum’s or even my Nan’s knee. Mum hated baking & Nan was on a completely different continent.

A passion for cake decorating & baking has come via a rather circuitous route & somewhat late in life – oft referred to by myself as my third phase.

Having spent the first decade after high school in the disciplined confines of a bookkeeping profession, I sought to break free by having a gap year at 29 which stretched into 6 years but it was fun rebelling. During this time I met my husband & together we embarked on an adventure of owning & running a guest house which lasted almost 8 years before the death of my Mum & a little later my Dad, brought us to where we are today.

Living an idyllic life on a smallholding in the sea-side town of St. Helena Bay, we’ve been given the opportunity to review what we want from this life & it was during this time that I developed an interest & dare I say passion for baking & cake decorating.

Blessed with a vivid imagination somewhat tempered by years in bookkeeping & armed with hours of self-teaching through the media of YouTube and Craftsy classes plus the odd professional class I open myself up to you to trust me with your most precious of cakes.

I promise that I will do my best to make this an interesting & fun experience – the ultimate goal being a beautiful & above all delicious wedding cake.
