Gelukkie, Carl & Chané – 16 December 2017

Chané had seen the koeksister themed cake that I had done for a styled shoot “Berry bold bridesmaid inspiration” held in August 2015 at Gelukkie & decided she would like something similar for her wedding cake. As that cake was all done on polystyrene dummies, this one had to include an actual cake for the top tier for them to enjoy. The cutting cake was a moist carrot cake filled with cream cheese frosting with a thick salted caramel drip. The bottom tiers were fondant covered dummies with loads of koeksisters attached with diamante corsage pins.
Our deliciously decadent wedding cake! It was the best of both our worlds; Carl the koeksisters and myself the carrot cake… WOW!! A show-stopper of note visually and on taste!!
Gelukkie, macaron wedding cake – 9 December 2017
Samantha chose a macaron inspired wedding cake. The cutting cake was a rich chocolate sponge filled with caramel treat. The macarons were done to reflect a coral ombre colour scheme. The macarons were filled with a white chocolate buttercream.
Sea Trader, Chanette & Hardus – 9 December 2017
Chanette & Hardus chose a 4 tier semi naked wedding cake for their special day. It was a moist carrot cake filled with cream cheese frosting. This was by far the biggest wedding cake that I had done. The day was very hot around 37°C, I was quite nervous that the cake would survive the day – but thankfully it did! I also had the pleasure of working with Madri & her team from The Event Planners who allowed me to plunder their flowers in order to decorate the wedding cake. I think the cake turned out quite nicely!
Togryersvlei, Jason & Shanice – 11 November 2017
A rich deep red was the colour scheme for Jason & Shanice’s wedding. The three tier fondant covered cake reflects this through the use of deep red gerbera daisies. This wedding cake was a cutting cake – the top tier was a red velvet sponge cake filled with cream cheese frosting. All the tiers were covered in a white fondant and accented with black royal icing filigree work.

Gelukkie, Marijke & Gavin – 24 June 2017
Marijke & Gavin’s wedding cake had such a cute spin on it. The cake itself was our apple spice cake filled with salted caramel. The bride & groom’s nicknames are Cheese & Mouse so I brought into the design a couple of mice & pieces of cheese made from gum-paste. Accompanying the wedding cake were sugar cookies with their nicknames on.
Thali Thali Game Lodge, Sue & Arie – 13 April 2017
Sue & Arie celebrated their wedding at Thali Thali Game Lodge in Langebaan. Sue asked that traditional fruit cake be a part of the cake as Arie is quite partial to it. So for this wedding cake the top tier was a rich chocolate sponge filled with dark chocolate ganache & pecan nut praline. The bottom tier was a brandy laced fruit cake. The colours of the wedding included burnt orange and hessian. Two deep coloured gerbera daisies adorned the top of the cake and the bottom tier was wrapped with a large hessian bow.
Gelukkie, Robyn & Michal – 10 April 2017
Robyn & Michal chose for their wedding cake to be a semi naked vanilla sponge filled with vanilla pastry cream & caramel buttercream. Accompanying the wedding cake were sugar cookie favours with R & M embossed onto them. Robyn was very kind to forward the above photo – thanks!
We cannot thank you enough for the incredible cake and cookies you made for us! I’ve attached a picture of the cake our photography took for us for you – it was just stunning and equally delicious!
Sea Trader, Kyle & Lezelle – 18 March 2017
Kyle & Lezelle chose a four tier cutting cake as their wedding cake. The cake had a pink and white colour scheme featuring piped filigree work on the first & third tiers, the second tier sported a monogrammed “C” for their surname and the bottom tier had columns of pink stripes. The flavour of the top tier was red velvet sponge cake filled with cream cheese frosting. To serve to their guests we provided pre-portioned sheet cake. Red velvet topped with cream cheese frosting & vanilla topped caramel buttercream.
Abalone House & Spa, Joamari & Nico – 11 March 2017
Joamari & Nico celebrated their beach wedding at Abalone House & Spa. The wedding cake they chose was a double barrel semi naked cake. The flavour of the cake was orange sponge filled with an almond & coconut creme. Accompanying the cake were sugar cookie favours embossed with their nicknames: Ginger & Blonde.
Blue Bay Lodge, Elke & Garreth – 5 March 2017
Elke’s sister chose the flavour for her wedding cake – all centered around caramel & caramel popcorn. This cake has such a whimsical & fun feeling to it. Three tiers of semi naked vanilla sponge filled with salted caramel & caramel & popcorn & dripping with even more caramel.
When looking back on 2017 this has got to have a special place in my heart – it was an absolute joy to make. The flower arrangement put together by Elmarie Leonard from West Coast Event Shed really bring the cake to life.
